Summer Charity Events in Georgia

Summer is full of festivals and fun, but it is also a time for fundraisers and awareness events. For those who wish to dedicate some of their summer to volunteer work and/or donating, Henry County and surrounding areas have several events happening this year, including the Cereal Box Challenge and the Brain Cancer 5k Run/Walk in Piedmont Park.

The Cereal Box Challenge, which officially kicked off on June 1, strives to help abused, neglected, and abandoned children while they are out of school this summer by providing them with cereal donated by the public. There are more than 1,000 homeless children in Henry County, and this charity initiative seeks to give them hope. The #cerealboxchallenge collected 3,048 boxes last year but is aiming to double that amount this year. There are many drop off locations throughout Henry County and this charity encourages donors to photograph and document their collections. This challenge is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together for children in crisis.

In recognition of National Cancer Survivors Day on June 4, there will be a Brain Cancer 5k Run/Walk at Piedmont Park in Atlanta. This year’s theme is “Join the Voices!” in an effort for people to raise their voice against brain cancer. All participants will receive a custom race medal, as well as a free t-shirt. In addition to the run/walk, there will be music, food, and family-friendly activities throughout the day. Don’t miss this community event that strives to find a cure for this devastating disease.

I hope you will participate in some of Georgia’s charity events this summer!
